Christian Loizou is a British Bass-Baritone, studying with Mark Wildman at the Royal Northern College of Music. He is a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where he studied with Scott Johnson and Andrew McTaggart.Praised for his “handsome baritone” (Richard Bratby, The Spectator), Christian has performed principal roles in college opera productions, most recently as Le Roi de Trêfles in Prokofiev's L'amour des Trois Oranges. He will next appear in Spring 2026 as the Priest in RNCM's production of The Cunning Little Vixen.In Summer 2025, Christian made his role debut as Figaro in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro with Opera Kipling, in a production that travelled around the UK and France.Summer 2026 will see Christian performing the role of Un Doganiere, and covering the role of Colline in Puccini’s La Bohème at Grange Festival Opera.His international debut was at Wexford Festival Opera in 2023 as a Moroccan Soldier in the world premiere of Tutino’s La Ciociara, and he returned in 2024 to play Yeats and The Judge in another world premiere, Caruso’s Lady Gregory in America.When not singing operatic repertoire, Christian is a keen concert soloist and performs regularly across the UK in recitals and concerts. He is generously supported in his studies at the RNCM by a full ABRSM Scholarship.
